One misconception ...
is how expensive it is to buy organic food. While there are grocery stores and local health food markets that offer organic food at prices that may be a out of one’s comfort zone; here are some tips and advice to incorporate a healthier way of eating that won’t break the bank.
Trader Joes
A great grocery store as a one stop shop is Trader Joe’s, some people believe Trader Joe’s to be an alternative grocery store that isn’t affordable but that is far from the truth. They offer items such as organic chicken at 1.99-2.99 a pound, packs of organic tomatoes (4 to 5) for around $3.49, 2 hearts of organic celery for around $2.19, organic carrots at 89 cents for a 1lb bag, organic peanut butter at $3.49, bags of organic pears and apples (2 pounds) at 2.99 and many other great, healthy and delicious items worth checking for.
Aldi
Aldi recently made a lot of improvements. I wasn’t impressed with Aldi when they first opened but that have made tremendous strides over the years, items such as organic eggs for less than 3 dollars, avocados at 59 to 99 cents each depending on the weekly sale, organic canned beans 89 cents, organic ground beef at $4.99-$5.29 per 1 lb. pack and many other good options worth exploring.
Weekly specials
Check your local health food market for weekly specials as well as coupons that you can find in the health magazines associated with the store, more often you can combine a coupon with an item already on sale.
WholeFoods
Whole foods can be on the higher end of pricing as far as health stores are concerned; however, they do have weekly sales with new sales being posted every Wednesday and if you’re an Amazon prime member they offer specials just for the members as well as an additional 10% of sale items.
Not every item needs to be organic
Here is the Environmental Working Group (EWG) 2018 Clean Fifteen:
