How to Eat Well on a Budget

Eating healthy can seem expensive, but its not! Every day, I am reminded to be grateful for deals that become available on organic food. Aldi's has started to incorporate organic food. Trader Joes has a sustainable collection of organic food. Be open to buying produce when they are on sale. Safeway has a way of putting the organic produce on sale, on rotation. And who says you have to buy everything organic? If trying to eat clean while saving money, check out the EWG's (Environmental Working Group) list of dirty dozen and clean fifteen!

You can also save money by buying less coffee outside, and making your own, bringing them in your thermos. Or if you're an avid tea drinker like me, choose to make loose leaf tea's at home and bringing them in a thermos either hot or chilled.

Great snacks to save you from reaching out for those easy yet, money spending snacks:

  • Apples and peanut butter (low glycemic, plenty of protein)

  • Mixed bag of nuts (great source of natural fats and protein)

  • Carrot sticks and hummus (low glycemic)

  • Celery seasoned in sesame oil and vinegar. (Best for its crunch factor!!)

  • Home made Kale chips

  • Rice crackers

  • Home made coconut-chia pudding
